When I launched Pixel & Pulpit at the start of the year, I set three major goals for this space.
At 100 Subscribers, I would open paid subscriptions.
At 100 Comments, I would launch a podcast.
Every 10 recommendations, I would create a bonus blog highlighting a digital ministry.
I anticipated that these goals would take a majority of the year to reach - with option 3 being the most likely to be first reached.
However, with only 3 blogs in the books, we’ve reached our first goal with a whopping 151 free subscriptions as of this post.
My expectations are blown out of the water, so let’s start with a big:
Thank you for supporting this project!
But now, it’s my turn to make good.
So, as promised, I’m launching paid subscriptions today. If you’d like to support this project financially, then you are able to do so starting right now.
But… what does that actually mean?
The Basics
First, what are the actual tiers?
For most of you, nothing will change. All posts to this feed will remain available for all free subscribers.
Here is the overview:
Free Subscribers - Cost: $0
Access to all posts and comments
Paid Subscribers - Cost: $5/month or $50/year
Full archive access
Subscriber-only Threads
Yearly Cohort Gathering
Founding Members - Cost: $100/year
Yearly 1-1 Digital Ministry Coaching
I’m sure you have some questions, so let’s break it down a bit further.
The Details
Free Subscribers:
Again, nothing really changes here. You’ll be able to read every post and comment with your thoughts and contributions.
Paid Subscribers:
I’m not sure when we’ll need to use the archive feature on Substack, but that content will remain readily available to those that are paid subscribers. The other two features are far more exciting.
The goal for Pixel & Pulpit has been to provide a community space for digital ministers and those entering the space. Given this, it makes sense to me that we would have spaces for private and intentional discussion that wouldn’t apply to the general practitioner. We’ll plan to have monthly thread-based discussions on our platform for this kind of back-and-forth conversation.
In addition to these monthly spaces, Pixel & Pulpit will host a yearly live gathering for those in this space to share ideas, hear from industry leaders, and grow in ministry together. Even those that subscribe for one month will receive an invite to this event, so it’s the best part of the deal.
Founding Members:
Substack offers a third, elevated tier for those that want to offer greater support to communities. However, I wanted to treat it as a space for a deeper commitment to the cause of digital ministry. If our paid subscriptions offer group growth, then the founding member is offered individual growth. In this current iteration, this will take the form of a yearly one-on-one digital ministry coaching session with me. I will craft a form to complete with desires, questions, and goals. We will then meet and discuss your ministry and how it might be shaped in the coming year.
Should You Subscribe?
If you’re discerning whether or not you should subscribe, I believe that Pixel & Pulpit offers three Cs for the subscriber.
Continuing Education
Collaboration
Coaching
Continuing Education - If you are a pastor, then it’s likely that you have continuing education fund at your church appointment. Pixel & Pulpit intends to offer cutting-edge digital ministry analysis - mostly for free. But there’s no such thing as a free lunch. By supporting this project financially, education will be able to be more developed. I will be able to host valuable voices in this space beyond my own. Like any other resource, consider using the funds provided for your edification to further the digital ministry research for everyone.
Collaboration - The comment section is nice, but collaboration is much better in intentional and trusted conversations. Threads will offer a collaborative experience that will echo the phrase, “a rising tide lifts all boats.”
Coaching - In the current climate of digital ministry, coaching opportunities are few and far between. As one of the leading practitioners of this ministry, I’m so invested in the work of the ministry that I’m not able to offer an official coaching vocation. However - I am able to offer what I have learned through this space.
Ultimately, if you value this space, then I hope you’ll consider supporting its continuation of it. This is a passion project and I am overjoyed to offer it, but community support makes it even better.

Welcome to our FORTY-EIGHT newest followers since our last post! We’re glad you’re here! Let’s re-up our subscriber goal for the rest of the year. If we reach 500 subscribers, then I create a storefront for some Pixel & Pulpit merchandise.
Given that, here are some updates on our goals: We are at 14/100 comments and 2/10 recommendations and now 151/500 subscribers - I appreciate any help we get with those goals.
